In my personal exprience www.blogger.com is the best platform to start free blogs..





The pages gets indexed very fast as compared to other blog service.





You can also apply for Google Adsense after sometimes with blogger blogs.





They are easy to work with, The control dashboard is very user friendly.

I don't know what free websites are the best. You might join some and see their graphics. It's valuable to find out how popular they are so you get more traffic and for you to link to as many other blogs you can, even see if your site will be accepted by Digg or Delicious. They have the program and you're limited to what they give you pretty much unless you want it all complicated. I would work more on getting traffic, maybe even getting ads and make money. Exposure is nice if you have something to say or want to attract interesting comments.
Blogger and wordpress are nice :)


or LiveJournal if you're going to be writing stories.





Wordpress is great for gossip





blogger is great for like everything else :)





Make a unique concept that people would find interesting, and see how it works :) If people seem to like it, get a domain name and soar from there! :)
There are 2 well-populated blog types, one is blogger, the other is called wordpress.





Well if you plan to use a free blog, then go for blogger:- http://www.blogger.com as it has more features in compared to the free worpdress (http://wordpress.org)

However if you plan to pay for a host server for your blog, then I would recommend you choosing wordpress, as there are millions of features available for wordpress(http://wordpress.org) like plugins, themes, etc.





http://wordpress.com - Free Version with less widgets/adds on , only those are built in.





http://wordpress.org - You will need a hosting server to host your blog, but well you can also use free host like :- http://www.00freehost.com/ and though site might run a bit slow with free host but you can have multiple adds on which aren't available in wordpress.com





But as for a beginner, go for blogger.. :) Its a good way to start blogging.
